Monday 23rd Septmember.
Today was the day we thought we’d tour through the
Christianborg Palace. I went to great lengths to ensure it would be open, being
a Monday, many places all over the world are closed. So, we found our way
there, and guess what?? Closed!! Just for a short while, maybe you come back in
an hour?? Yeah, right! We wandered around and found our way in to the Old
Library Garden and it’s really lovely.

Maybe we should try the National Museum and look at the
Viking exhibition? Find our way there, and being Monday, it’s closed!! The
biggest container ship in the world is in port at the moment, the ‘Majestic Maersk’,
so we figured out what bus to catch, because we are determined to catch a bus,
and strike up a conversation with a man on board about whether or not we are on
the correct bus. Seems we are. I’m so pleased they all speak such good English
here!! When that man gets off, the man in front of us turns and says he is
going to see the ship too, so we buddy up and walk from the bus stop around to
Langelinie to the dock. It’s a massive ship and a lot of people have turned out
to have a gawk. But the crowd is quite tolerable.
Linda messages us and lines us up to meet her and Ken, 5.30
at the SkyBar at the Bella Centre out in the boon docks. A sort of ‘if you
build it, they will come’ sort of place. End of the Metro line (nearly) and on
the plains where the wind howls across in the winter. We’ve got plenty of time
so decide to walk around the Kastellet, an old fortification near the dock, but
it takes longer than we realise to get back to the station and we arrive to
meet up just in time.

The SkyBar is on the 23rd floor, which isn’t
far up by Aussie standards, but when you’re in a 5 floor limited area, it’s
pretty high. The view is 360 degrees and it’s a clear day, so we can see back
to the city and can even see the ship at the dock.
The drinks aren’t as expensive as we expected and they didn’t mind me being a tourist, taking photos from all vantage points. Ken has the car there, so we drive home in style.

Sounds like a great day with a very good finish! Nice view for afternoon drinks!
